The 34th street location for Foot Locker is steeped in history and culture. The goal of this flagship was to bring their store of the future concept to the front line with new technology, immersive features, and fresh looks. Our team worked alongside Foot Locker at critical design stages – 10%, 50%, and 90% – to ensure their vision was attainable in the allotted timeframe. Communicating between design, operations, and external stakeholders in the neighboring space took full attention of our on-site team. We worked to reduce storefront phase completion time which resulted in minimal disruption. Our team was able steward the construction of this store for Foot Locker, leaving a successfully completed flag ship open and ready for thousands of customers a day.

This location is the pilot for Foot Lockers “Store of the Future”. An experiential retail space that combines the classic athletic environment with new hands-on elements like the sneaker hub, a one-on-one shoe customizing station. From a previous tenant’s space, Connor Construction’s team demoed existing fixtures and finishes, completed MEP upgrades, and worked with design and architecture teams at crucial drawing stages ensuring that concepts were as constructable as they are innovative, bringing the visionary ideas to life with precision and attention to detail

Transitioning into a vibrant shopping center, Foot Locker continues to lead the retail market by creating an experiential space that goes beyond simple transactions. After completing the initial demolition, Connor Construction took on responsibilities including MEP delivery, fixture installation, graphics, and signage. In the expansive 14,000-square-foot space, we focused on both rough and finish carpentry, ensuring each sales floor section was ready for the next phase. Strategic scheduling for ceiling construction and painting helped mitigate potential delays. Despite unforeseen procurement hurdles, we adjusted our timeline without compromising key dates, allowing the in-store team ample time to set up and merchandise before opening. Notable features of this project include lofty ceilings, varied floor finishes, and the integration of new technology to streamline the shoe selection process.

Foot Locker

Expanding the existing Foot Locker into two adjacent tenant spaces required demolishing walls and leveling the floor down to the slab. Despite the scope of demolition posing potential delays, Connor Construction’s team worked diligently to stay on schedule. Once we had a blank canvas, we installed a cohesive lighting grid, framed and finished carpentry, and installed signage for both the interior and storefront. Foot Locker’s new store prototypes emphasize clean polished floors and ample lighting, ensuring customers can view shoes and apparel as they would on or off the court.

Foot Locker

The expanded Foot Locker concept at Westchester Mall required removing all previous tenant finishes down to the framing and slab. Connor Construction’s demolition team swiftly completed this task, allowing us to rough-in plumbing and electrical ahead of schedule. To maintain Foot Locker’s consistent brand image, we polished the concrete, installed new signage and lighting packages, and constructed fixtures designed to enhance merchandising and create compelling interior brand stories.
